BIG WIN. The Dubs took down the Nuggets in another brilliant performance from Stephen Curry. He had 53 points to get his 7th straight game with 30+ points and to become the franchise scoring leader, moving past of Wilt Chamberlain.
The first quarter was a Curry show. 21 points were scored by Steph, including 5 threes. All the other Warriors points were scored by 3 players (Green, Lee and Wiggins) who combined for 12 points in the 1st. Even tough Golden State had a good offensive quarter, the Nuggets fought back, and led by Porter Jr (11 points) and Jokic (9) they were only down one at the end of the 1st.
In the second, it happened what we're used to see. The Warriors scored 2 points in the first 5 minutes and the Nuggets went on a 11-2 run to take a 8 point lead. With Curry back, the Warriors tried to make a comeback, but they were down 5 going into the second half. Bazemore led the second unit with 9 points in the second quarter, and Curry already had 30 at the end of the quarter.
The third quarter was probably the best Warriors period all season. At the start, the Dubs went on a 11-0 run to take the lead. Led by Curry, (18 points in the third) and Draymond Green (8 points in the quarter) they dominated the Nuggets. The Warriors ended the quarter on a 9-0 run to take a 16 point lead.
In the 4th quarter, it didn't matter that Golden State scored only 17 points or that they shot 31%. They got a big win, and now the Dubs are two games behind 0.500%. The Warriors will now have a back to back on the road vs OKC and Cleveland to start a road trip. A great chance to get closer to the Spurs and the reach the 0.500% mark.
Stats: Steph Curry had his 3rd game with 50+ points this season. He had 53 points and 6 rebounds to beat the 4th sead in the West. Draymond Green actually had a amazing game offensively and deffensively. He scored a season high 18 points, with 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Andrew Wiggins did what he always does, score in double figures. Tonight it was 17 points on 47% shooting. Kent Bazemore, once again, did a good job, and with 14 points, he led the 2nd unit.
The Nuggets were led by Michael Porter Jr (24 points and 9 rebounds) and Jokic (27 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists). Jamal Murray didn't have a good game, but at the end he went down. It's a knee injury, and right now we don't know the severity of it, but we send Jamal all our good wishes and prayers. Injuries is the worst thing in sports, and we know it.
The Warriors next game is against the Thunder on Wednesday.
