The Warriors 4 game winning streak comes to an end vs the Celtics. Amazing game but the Curry 47 points weren’t enough because Tatum was completely amazing (42 points). A Draymond missed layup and 2 missed free throws by Bazemore cost the game.
In the first quarter the game started pretty good, both Steph and Tatum started hot, but then the Warriors went on a 12-0 run to take a 14 point lead. But Steph got 2 fouls in that quarter, and even though he played all the quarter. Steph scored 14 points in the first half, and Tatum had 13 in the quarter
In the 2nd, the second unit played fantastic, led by Wiggins (8 points) and the Dubs took a big lead (16 points) but Jayson Tatum refused to lose, and a 10-0 run to end the 2nd left the Celtics only down 6 at the end of the first half. Tatum had 21 in the first half and Curry had 22 and an unbelievable and-one.
In the third, Boston started on a 18-5 run to take a 7 point lead. It looked like the Celtics would run away with it, but once again, Steph refused. A 11-0 run gave the Dubs the lead again, and at the end of the 3rd, the game was tied at 89. Curry had 16 points in that quarter, but Kemba Walker answered, with 9.
In the 4th, Jordan Poole led the second unit, but Tatum was too much, and Boston was leading by 2 when Curry came back. JTA made a huge effort saving a ball that ended on a Curry three, but he got injured (head) on that play. The Warriors even led by 6 with 3 minutes remaining, but a 16-5 run by Boston to end the game ended the Dubs. A wide open three by Smart, a Draymond Green layup miss, and 2 free throws missed by Kent Bazemore were key. Steph limped in the final minutes, because he injured his ankle.
Stats: As usual, Steph led the Dubs, but his 47 point, 7 rebound and 11 threes performance wasn’t enough. Wiggins had 22 on 53% shooting to help and Bazemore had 16. Jordan Poole was the bench highest scorer with twelve points.
The Celtics won thanks to an amazing Jayson Tatum perfomance, 44 points and 10 rebounds on 64% shooting. Kemba Walker added 26 points and 8 rebounds, and Marcus Smart had 16 points and 9 rebounds
These kind of losses have been hurting the Warriors all season long. If they really want to get to the Playoffs, the Dubs have to be more clutch, and they have to close games out. The next game is against Philly on Monday.
