The Warriors got their 4th straight win after defeating the Cavs in Cleveland. Steph Curry didn't have a good 1st half, but he came up big in the second, to get 33 points (9th straight, ties Barry, who did it in the 1966/67 season) 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Juan Toscano Anderson had a career high 20 points, to lead a great second unit.
The start was pretty bad for the Dubs. The Cavs went on a 17-6 run, but the Warriors, led by JTA (8 points in the 1st), cut the lead to 3 at the end of the period. Curry was very bad in that quarter, he had 6 points, shooting 2/8 from the field and 0/5 from 3.
But in the second quarter, the second unit dominated the Cavs, and they went on a 19-5 run to take the lead. The Warriors led by as much as 18 in that period, led by Wiggins and Damion Lee (9 points each). Also, Andrew had a baby last night, so congratulations from here. Jordan Poole again did a great job in those 6 minutes without Steph, he had 8 points in the quarter, but we saw him with a big wrap on his right wrist. The Dubs had a 18 point lead with 3 minutes remaining, but Cleveland decided to make it interesting, and they went on a 11-4 run to make a 11 point game at the half. Sexton led the Cavs in the first half with 16 points
Steph Curry was 0/7 from three in the first half, but as soon as the Cavs made a push to get back into the game, Chef Curry started to cook. Cleveland actually made it a 4 point game, but at the end of the quarter, Steph made two big threes, one of them were he dropped Dellavedova, to give the Warriors a 10 point lead at the end of the quarter.
In the 4th quarter, the second unit did a great job extending the lead, and JTA probably had his best quarter as a Warrior. 10 points, 2 threes and probably more minutes in the next game. The Warriors have won 4 straight, but now they are going to face Boston, who are currently in a 5 game winning streak, and Philadelphia, the best team in the East. Two big games, and it will be huge if the Dubs win one of those.
Stats: Steph Curry had his 9th straight game with 30+. Tonight it was 33 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. JTA made history, he became the first Mexican to score 20 points in a NBA game, but the most important thing is that he shot 89%, had 3 threes, 7 rebounds, a steal and a block. Beautiful. Wiggins added 23 points, 6 boards and 6 assists (shooting 62% from three). Jordan Poole was great off the bench, he added 14 points, and Draymond Green did what he always does: 6 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. A little bit of everything. Damion Lee had 11 points and 5 rebounds and Looney had 8 points and 10 boards.
Cleveland tried to fight, led by Collin Sexton, who had 30 points, but he didn't get enough help. Garland had 17 points and 7 assists and Jarret Allen had 17 points and 15 boards
The next game is against the Celtics on Saturday, a tough team. But if the Grizzlies lose today, the Warriors will take the 8th seed, and they are escaping from the Pelicans, they are already 2.5 games ahead of them.
