The best game of the season, and probably the best day of the season. The Warriors blew out the Oklahoma City Thunder on another Stephen Curry explosion. The Dubs tied their franchise record with 24 threes, they had their first 50 point quarter of the season, and the winning streak now is three.
The first quarter was pretty normal. Curry made 3 threes and 9 points and Kent Bazemore also had 9 points with 2 threes. Draymond Green did what he always does, and in the first he had 4 points 6 assists and 3 rebounds. In the 1st quarter, the Warriors made 13 field goals, and 11 assists. The Thunder had lots of players out, but they fought back, and led by Mickhailiuk (8 points and 2 threes) and Tony Bradley (6 points and 3 rebounds) the Dubs were only up 4 at the end of the quarter
It looked like OKC were going to give the Warriors a tough game, but the second unit was amazing, and led by Poole, they go on a 16-6 run to get a 14 point lead. Poole had a fantastic quarter, scoring 8 points, all straight, to get 14 at the end of the half. Mychal Mulder, D-Lee and Looney also had good quarters. At the end of the half, the Warriors had a 21 point lead, thanks to a 21-6 run.
In the third, Steph Curry made history again. He scored 25 points on 100% shooting, and 6 threes. He joined the other Splash Bro, Klay Thompson, as the only players to score more than 25 points and 6 threes in a quarter. The Dubs scored 50 points in that quarter, and at the end of it they already had 125. Golden State shot 77% from the field and 75% from 3 in that period.
To start the 4th, the Warriors had made 22 threes, 3 away from their record. Gary Payton II played 9 minutes and he actually played great (10 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals). We will love to see him play more to show us what he has.
Stats: Steph Curry scored 42 points (70% shooting, and 69% from 3), grabbed 6 boards and had 8 assist in only 29 minutes. Draymond Green had his 28th Triple Double (4th of the season), with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 16 assists. The Warriors are 27-1 when Green has a Triple-Double. Jordan Poole led the second unit and he was effective again, with 17 points, 4 assists and 4 threes. Kent Bazemore provided help, and with 15 he had the third highest points for the Warriors. The Warriors shot 54% from the field and 51% from three.
The Thunder tried in the first quarter, but they just didn't have enough firepower to compete, and the defense was very bad. Their leading scorer was Darius Bazley who had 22 points and 8 rebounds. Moses Brown scored 18 points and he grabbed 12 boards to complete a double double. Tony Bradley had 13 points and 7 rebounds.
With the losses of The Spurs, the Warriors take the ninth seed, and with the Pelicans defeat, they are 2 games ahead of them. The Grizzlies also lost (Thank you Luka) so the Warriors are just one game away from the 8th seed. Their next game is Thursday vs Cleveland.
